After The End of World War II in 1976 Prof.Dr. Friedrich A. Freiherr von der Heydte and the president of the French
paratroopers, Colonel J.Romain-Defosses tried as well as in 1981 until 1982 Col.(ret) Rudolf Witzig in vain create the fundaments for a European paratroopers union.

Only the president of the BDF, Col. (ret) Karl-Heinrich Sander in cooperation with the president of the Frensch paratroopers union ( UNP ) Henry-Jean Loustau succeeded in the breakthrough .... At Altenstadt on 25.11.1989 with the signature of the statutes, which had been created with assistance of Col. (ret) Reeb, the U.E.P. was founded.

Structure

Germany and France were the countries which founded the U.E.P.
The following countries joined the U.E.P. in the course of years: Greece (1990), Spain and Italy (1991), Cyprus an Portugal (1992), Poland (1999), Belgium ( 2005) and Hungary (2006).
The president is in charge of the direction of the U.E.P. He is appointed by the member countries changing every year, and assisted by he secretary general of the U.E.P., with permanent seat in Paris.

Objectives

In article II of the statute are the following objectives described

Regardless of political and religious beliefs,
are the traditional values of the Paratroopers of all generations
the basis of the UEP

- The Union supports all efforts to build a united Europe in a free world.
- The Union is involved in the major military events in which the military traditions of the European States linger,
   to mediate  the young generation the honor and duty-based of the Paratroopers-spirit.
- They arrange and coordinate all actions aimed at the cohesion and solidarity of the Members promote
